Ceres Heilmittel AG

Ceres Heilmittel was founded in 1991 by Dr. Roger Kalbermatten, at Hefenhofen in the canton of Thurgau. For over 20 years, the name Ceres has been used for mother tinctures which are effective at extremely low dosages.

Areas of activity

Ceres produces its mother tinctures by predominantly manual methods, using medicinal plants that are grown organically or gathered from the wild.

Dr. Kalbermatten experimented and searched in all the available sources for indications as to how to optimise the methods for processing medicinal plants. After almost 10 years of research, the mortar grinder now used by Ceres was developed. The hand-cut plants are ground in a system that has 2x7 oval granite grindstones, and then mixed with alcohol. The dynamisation process is enhanced by the rhythmic movement of the liquid in the Ceres mortar grinder.

Markets

A few years ago, faced with a growing demand for Ceres preparations and the need to ensure that they were manufactured to the usual high quality standard, the company took an unconventional route. Instead of developing the required production capacity at its headquarters at Kesswil, the company decided to create a new manufacturing site in another location.

A manufacturing laboratory was therefore established in the village of Nax, in the Valais. A second small team of staff, in which every member is able to deal with the entire product manufacturing process, ensures that the preparations produced are of the same high quality. It was only with a great deal of care, time, environmental awareness and attention to detail that Ceres finally began producing preparations at Nax in summer 2012.

The two manufacturing sites will complement one another, to ensure that transport is minimised and lines of communication remain short, and, ultimately, that the high quality of the products is maintained. In this way, Ceres is growing in a sustainable fashion, while remaining a small family business.
