Aproz Sources Minérales SA
Founded in 1947, Aproz Sources Minérales is Switzerland's market leader in mineral waters and cordials. Since it became part of the Migros group in 1958, it has grown continually. Its site in the Valais canton not only produces natural mineral waters, but also soft drinks, cordials and, under licence, the Pepsi, 7UP and Orangina brands.
Client base and markets
Aproz employs around 120 people, three of whom are engineers carrying out research and development into new products. It has 60% of the cordials market in Switzerland and currently has about 220 different products, which are mainly distributed via the Migros network.
The efficiency of its plant enables Aproz to fill over 80,000 PET bottles per hour. This means that its annual production is around 120 million litres, of which a large proportion goes to the German-speaking part of Switzerland. In addition, it is developing a "Valais brand" water for the international market. The facilities at the company's site in Aproz also enable it to offer contract bottling services.
Innovation and the environment
Aproz has long been committed to protecting the environment, having transported over 90% of its production by rail for over 50 years. A pioneer in using recycled PET, the company has been committed to sustainable development from its earliest days.
At a time when around 40% of the water drunk in Switzerland is imported, Aproz watches for emerging trends so that it can spot them quickly, and is continually developing new products. It combines its capacity to innovate with its constant concern for the environment, for example by improving its labelling, packaging and transport systems to protect the environment and conserve natural resources.
Aproz continues to expand, with an annual increase in turnover of between 5% and 12%.
