Polyright SA is an SME involved in developing identification, access control and payment software.
 
Polyright offers ID management and cashless systems, and payment solutions for cafeterias, restaurants and snack vending machines. These products all make the sales, management and payment processes easier. The company is also developing an electronic wallet system, for online payments. In addition, it offers an application for personalising access cards. 

The company also provides online and offline access control solutions, via smart cards. With more than 10 years' experience in access control and several thousand entry points installed throughout Europe, it can offer clients sound advice on choosing an access control system. 

History

The story of Polyright SA dates back to 1992, when its name was Multicard, and it has been involved with RFID smart-card systems ever since it was founded. The company has existed in its present form since 1997, when its name was Sport Access. It was renamed Polyright in 2002, and after its purchase by the Kudelski Group it refocused its activities on multi-function cards. Since 2013, it has been owned by Sandpiper Digital Payments, a Swiss group.

Client base and markets

This Sion-based company is Switzerland's leader in ID management and online wallets. Its platform is mainly intended for the education (universities and schools), healthcare (hospitals, clinics, nursing homes) and business markets. Its solutions are used in approximately 70% of Switzerland's universities, as well as many Hautes Ecoles, secondary schools, businesses and clinics. It employs about 35 people, of whom 20 work in Valais, and has opened offices in Lausanne and Zürich.

Polyright is heavily oriented towards development and new technologies, and has established a centre of excellence in the areas of RFID, cashless payments and the integration of third-party applications with its management solution. The company has approximately 200 clients, mainly in Switzerland. However, it is aiming to operate at an international level, via a single platform.

The Ark Foundation is supporting Polyright in its work to develop a new open platform that enables merchants, and suppliers of third-party software, to offer their services to holders of Polyright cards. (SME Innovation Project)
