Innovation Day

When Biotech becomes Cleantech

BioArk, Monthey | 10.11.2011 13h30

Date : Thursday, November 10th, 2011 at 1.30 pm
Lieu : BioArk in Monthey

When speaking of Cleantech, we generally think about renewable energy, energy efficiency or Smart grids. The link to the Biotech is not often highlighted, and yet, many technologies developed in the life sciences can really be considered as Cleantech. An ecological willingness, but also economic pressure, pushes production lines to simpler processes, requiring fewer synthetic steps, reduced waste and energy consumption. In this context, various disciplines have developed - the "White Biotechnology" or Bioremediation, for example - and positioned themselves clearly as clean and innovative technologies.

Various players in the field, both in industry and academia, will get together on this The Ark Innovation Day to illustrate the technological advances and highlight the challenges associated with “Biotech as Cleantech”.
